UCL overzicht • Feyenoord op plek 21 na speelronde vijf
Speelronde 5 van de UEFA Champions League zit erop. Waar Feyenoord dinsdagavond op spectaculaire wijze van een 0-3 achterstand terugkwam naar 3-3 tegen Manchester City, deed PSV het woensdagavond nog eens dunnetjes over door een 0-2 achterstand tegen het Shakhtar Donetsk van Marino Pusic in de laatste negen minuten van het duel om te draaien naar een 3-2 overwinning.
De ploeg van Brian Priske speelt nog drie duels in het prestigieuze miljoenenbal. Sparta Praag verloor zwaar van Atlético Madrid, met twee goals van zowel Julian Alvarez als Angel Correa. Op 11 december speelt Feyenoord thuis tegen de Tsjechen, een cruciaal duel om overwintering in de Champions League. Wint Feyenoord, is de kans op de laatste 24 levensgroot. Zeker aangezien de overige uitslagen in deze speelronde verre van ongunstig waren.
Bayern München en Lille zijn de twee laatste tegenstanders voor Feyenoord. Bayern won deze ronde van PSG. Lille won op hun beurt uit bij Bologna. Feyenoord treft de Fransen op 29 januari van het nieuwe jaar in de laatste speelronde van de 'League Phase'.
